Fall Fashion Curve: Fall Jackets

Fall Fashion Curve: Fall Jackets
By: Micaela Shambee

A new season is approaching, and this season happens to be my favorite!  I love Fall for three reasons: holidays, cooler weather and fashion.  I simply love fall fashion because we get to wear knee high boots, and awesome jackets (that is my uniform for fall, really!)  So it’s important to pick the right pieces for your fall wardrobe now, so you’ll be ready when the temperature starts to drop. Thus, we’ll start with picking the right jacket, which can make your outfit chic, cool, or edgy depending on the style.  Get ready to get ahead of the Fashion curve ladies!  Here are my first three picks:

Bomber Jackets

I love Bomber jackets because they give off an urban, polished feel that I love, being a city girl.  In addition, this jacket is light and looks best when fitted and cut at the waist on curvy girls.  So, if this jacket is the apple of your eye, make sure that you try styling it with chunky bracelets and scarves to instantly glam up your bomber and make it look fresh for Fall!  Look for this jacket in tan or even plaid for a nice downtown .

Leather Jacket

I love leather jackets because they add a bit of edge to your wardrobe instantly!  I predict leather jackets to be all the rage this season because fashion is moving in a more hard-edge environment.  However, if the edgy look isn’t exactly you, but you want to give it a try anyway, pair your leather jacket with feminine pieces such as lace camisoles and pearls or ruffles for a look that is edgy and soft.  The look is a complete oxymoron, but it is a great unexpected mash up for fall.

Look for this style in asymmetrical cuts!

Though I don’t exactly consider a blazer a jacket, you’ll definitely find this topper on everyone this season!  Hailing as one of the most fresh looks from last fall (think Kim Kardashian), blazers will be back with a vengeance for 2010.  However, if you want to make it current, try a blazer with sharp shoulders or with embellishments like spikes and chains for a very new 2010 feel.   Make sure that this type of jacket is fitted, for the most classic and beautiful shape.  Also, don’t be afraid to find blazers in different colors or even patterns.  A fun blazer can instantly update any wardrobe!
