Viva Fat Vegas Series Part 4: A Magical Night with Sarah of S.W.A.K Designs!

Hey guys! We know Viva Fat Vegas has been taking over the blog for the past week, but we have one more series after this and we’re done!  We had such an excellent time that I could talk about this trip for months, but I’ll try to condense the last post, so we can get back to the fabulousity you guys know and love from Fashion Plus 3!

Our night with Sarah Saparo of Sealed With A Kiss (S.W.A.K) designs started with a trail of sticker kisses (strategically placed on places like the elevator and hallway) leading through the building that housed Sarah’s condo!  It was very posh and luxurious, so we new that her home would emulate the same.  We were not disappointed when we were greeted by Sarah in the condo made from heaven!  In the back we could see a rack full of fabulous clothes and Fall look books were catching our eyes as we came in and made ourselves comfortable.  We couldn’t wait to see what she had in store for us!

After getting to know Sarah (who is the Marketing director for SWAK) we got to try on the fall collection!  This was amazing because you don’t normally get a chance to feel the clothes that online retailers offer.  So now I have a good idea what my size is in their line and the quality of the clothing (which was superb, I might add)!  In addition, she surprised us all by telling us we would get to take home a piece of the collection!  We couldn’t believe we would get to bring home one of the gorgeous pieces on the rack and add it to our increasingly large swag bags!

Check out all the ladies trying on S.W.A.K designs:

Viva Fat Vegas Series Part 3: Day 2 at Voluptuous Boutique!

After becoming full on sorority sisters with the bloggers we headed into day 2 of the Conference!  First, we headed to Voluptuous Boutique, the first Plus size Boutique in Las Vegas!  There we were greeted by the lovely owner Patty and her husband who gave us a run down of their mission, and superb customer service.  It was great hearing that they were working class citizens who made a dream happen for themselves.   Especially a dream that makes all women feel accepted and treated with respect, while receiving excellent hospitality!  In addition, Voluptuous Boutique was hosting the Queens of the Desert Model search in which Rosie Mercado (MUA, face of Full Figured Fashion Week and Size Acceptance Advocate) would be a judge of.  We couldn’t wait to meet her!

Because this was such an amazing experience and we have a million awesome photos, we are breaking up this day into two!  We hope you love them!

Check it out:

Everything in the store was designed by the owner Patty, she hand painted the shoes on the mannequin!

I was won over by the Peppermill when I saw the the cool fire pit and beautiful lights everywhere.  As a bonus, the food was amazing and not to mention the drinks!  The appetizers were enough to fill 10 bloggers. We had nachos piled high, bruschetta, cheese quesadillas, and a platter with onion rings, fried shrimp, chicken fingers, cheese sticks, and even MORE bruschetta. For drinks they had everything from strawberry daiquiris to apple martinis.  And the cherry on top was the cool 80′ videos comming on large tv screens everywhere.

I give the Peppermill 3 out of five stars.

Viva Fat Vegas Series Part 2: Day 1

And the conference begins!

Have you ever had a nervous, but exciting feeling in your stomach when you meet new people for the first time? Well, we got that feeling when we received a message from Stiletto of Lips Hips and Fatshion tips that our introductions would start at 11 p.m. By this time, we had ate McDonalds, explored our hotel room and were changing our clothes for the first event of the conference at the Peppermill.

The view from our host hotel, The Riviera

I don’t know if it was the time change (we were now on west coast time) or if it was the nerves but 11 p.m. zoomed around the corner and we we’re knocking on their hotel room door (which happened to not be that far from ours). Once going in, we instantly connected and we were all gabbing and laughing like long lost sorority sisters! We were so happy to be in a group of bloggers we admired and whose blogs we read almost everyday! Also, it was great to put voices and inflections behind everyone’s twitter names because it is hard to read emotion from someone on the internet! From then on, we knew that the conference would be a smash!

Check out the amazing bloggers and the pics from our first event at the Peppermill Lounge provided by Figuresque.   Day 1 of the Viva Fat Vegas Blogger Conference!

Viva Fat Vegas Series Part 1: Road Trip!

Hey guys! It’s Mickey here and as you know, Fashion Plus 3 just got back from our world-wind trip to the Viva Fat Vegas blogger conference yesterday, so of course we’re jet lagged (well, bus lagged but I’ll explain that in a minute) from a trip full of fun, food and fashion, with some of the most amazing fatshion bloggers in the blogging community!

Now because we got home literally yesterday, we are a bit behind, so I’ll try to keep the posts short and sweet and we’ll be be posting these as a series! Yay!

Okay, now on to the trip!

Our trip started with a crazy idea to see the country.  We all had been on small road trips before in our lives, but never one that would take 1 day 15 hrs and 15 minutes!  Since we figured this was a once in a lifetime chance to see the country, we hopped on a greyhound and saw the most insane mountain imagery imaginable!  Our trip took us through Iowa and Nebraska (mostly flat land and cornfields that reminded me of Van Gogh paintings) then through Colorado and Utah which had the most beautiful /scary mountains in America!  But what really took the cake was actually driving through them, we just prayed and hoped the bus driver knew what he was doing because in some areas there were very little railings and the roads were winding and weaving through canyons!

Thanks everyone for wishing us a safe trip!

New York Fashion Week: Nudes and Neutrals!

New York Fashion Week:  Nudes and Neutrals!

By: Micaela Shambee

It’s hard for any girl not to be inspired by New York Fashion Week.  With designers such as Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs and Christian Siriano to prep you for 2011, your sure to want to skip Winter altogether and jump right into Spring!  Well, designers don’t disappoint, bringing this year’s Nude trend back with a commanding presence!  Instead of predictable uses of color,  Nudes and Neutrals were sashaying every where with small  pops of color used very sparingly in most collections.

Expect White to be hot next Spring because from BCBG Max Azria to Doo.Ri and beyond you could not miss each designers use of the color.  Designers opted for minimalism, using effortless draping on flowing maxi and cocktail dresses.  In addition,  well tailored shorts and trousers hit the runways, as well as the 70’s era wide leg pant.

Check it out my inspiration picks for next Spring:(Click to see larger) Images from Style.com

OneStopPlus– The first plus size show at New York Fashion Week ever!  Models such as Toccara (of America’s Next Top Model)  and Lizzi Miller will be stomping the runway in a historic showing of OneStopPlus’s new Collection “Belle Epoque” on Sept. 15, 2010.

Oh Thank Goodness for the Goddess Bra!

Okay, ladies it’s Dannika here and I have been doing a lot of reading and researching on how to perfect my personal style.  So I was amazed when I discovered that before you can think about your outfit of the day, you should focus on your foundation (undergarments) first.  This is why having a proper Bra is so essential to building your look.   For example, think of a building.   The foundation is built first and must be strong to support it’s frame and structure.  So, your bra and foundation pieces should be strong and supportive for your look and posture. That’s when I came across Goddess Lingerie.

Rose

Their collection of bra’s and lingerie in my opinion is wonderfully on point.  They have classic and contemporary styles, while looking comfortable and very supportive.  Also, unlike the Butterfly Bra (which I love but have issues with), these seem comfortable, not like you have massive body armor on! I can’t wait to try one out!

Lace Bustier

The Goddess Lingerie website helps you with find a store within your area or where to buy it online.  They have a wish list section to help you keep up with your faves and send it out to whom ever you like (!or those with a birthday coming up)!  The website also gets bonus points because they give great advice on how to choose one of their bra’s and how important it is to get the right fit.

Check it out:

Here’s a video taken from the website that will completely change your mind about how you wear and choose you next bra(intended only if you don’t already know this info).
